Not just Heat - ACTIVE Heat

Picture
All organisms have a specific thermal death point, and many of these inhabiting our structures fall within the efficacy range of Sleeptite's process.  This application of  heat to structure can eradicate organisms without damaging the structure or your belongings in the treatment.
Sleeptite's process is more than just hot air.  It is "active" heating.  This professional heating system is primarily convective heating that deploys a combination of electric and propane heaters and air movers which also results in decreased odors and the reduction and/or elimination of many biological concerns such as
  • dust mites and associated allergens
  • viruses
  • bacteria
The high energy heated air molecules are injected into structures via our professional heating systems.  The heated air molecules then transfer their high energy heat to the cooler building materials and contents as they come into contact.    A continuous convection of heated air is required in order to achieve lethal temperatures throughout the treatment area as heat is conducted from one layer of molecules to the next until equilibrium is achieved.  The building materials then radiate heat into the voids of the structure until lethal temperatures are achieved and held for the prescribed duration of time.

Target Organisms

Picture
Although heat is lethal to all insects and arachnoids, bed bugs are the primary target  for Sleeptite.  While treatment can take place without any pesticides, active heat, combined with desiccant dusts and liquid pesticides is synergistic.  Combining heat and pesticides establishes a perimeter barrier upon conclusion of treatment.
While bed bugs are becoming resistant to more and more chemical pesticides every day, the insect will never become resistant to heat.  The application of heat is lethal without the application of pesticides.  Heat can penetrate to achieve lethal temperatures inside mattresses, pillows, wall voids, books, and all contents within a given habitation.  Rooms on several floors can be treated simultaneously within four to eight hours or twelve to twenty-four hours depending on the type of equipment deployed.   Our  portable heaters are discreet and will not  arouse the same concern from patrons as will pesticides, fumigants or heating systems that need generators to supply sufficient power to the heaters.

In addition, a Sleeptite Heat treatment can aerosolize odors which then can be flushed from the structure and also significantly reduce bacterial and particulate levels.  The traditional use of pesticides could not accomplish either a complete eradication of the target pest or the egg stage of the insect, and certainly will not achieve the additional multiple benefits of improved indoor air quality.

Allergens and Asthma Triggers

Asthma is defined by the American Lung Association as a "chronic inflammation of the airways with reversible episodes of obstruction, caused by an increased reaction of the airways to various stimuli.   Asthma breathing problems usually happen in "episodes" or attacks but the inflammation underlying asthma is continuous."

Many allergens may trigger episodes and include dust mites, pollens, second-hand smoke, assorted airborne chemicals, pet dander, cockroaches, and foods.  Sleeptite Heat treatments favorably impact many of these allergen triggers by killing the host (dust mites or cockroaches) and by reducing the level of active allergens present.   The high temperatures reached in Sleeptite's thermal process can denature many allergenic or harmful proteins found in insect and rodent feces.  Aggressive air convection during a Sleeptite treatment reduces active allergens.  Indoor air quality can be improved by actively venting the hot air immediately following a treatment.
